How ShineLong Tests LED Lighting Quality Before Delivery
From optical data to washdown resistance and transport durability, specialized testing equipment helps turn an agreed luminaire specification into verifiable performance.
Why Is Quality Testing So Critical for LED Luminaires Before They Leave The Factory?
For industrial luminaires, a certificate of conformity is only one checkpoint. Optical output, sealing, corrosion resistance, environmental stability and mechanical robustness all affect product reliability, maintenance exposure and buyer confidence.
ShineLong uses dedicated test equipment to examine those risks across the product lifecycle. This work supports the wider LED lighting quality control process, from design verification through outgoing inspection.

How Integrating Sphere and IES Darkroom Testing Verify LED Optical Performance
Integrating Sphere Testing
An integrating sphere collects light from the entire LED luminaire through its highly diffuse reflective inner surface, enabling accurate measurement of total output and colour performance.
- Luminous flux, wavelength and luminous efficacy
- Correlated colour temperature (CCT)
- Colour rendering index (CRI), from Ra ≥ 80 to Ra ≥ 95
- Voltage, current and power-factor readings

IES Darkroom Testing
IES darkroom testing records the three-dimensional light intensity distribution of a luminaire and generates standardized IES files through high-precision photometric measurement.
- Spatial luminous intensity distribution and light-distribution curves
- Total luminous flux and luminous efficacy
- Beam angle, UGR and luminaire efficiency
- Verification of optical specifications and energy efficiency

The resulting .ies file can be imported into lighting-design software such as Dialux and AGi32 for lighting simulation, layout verification and energy-efficiency analysis. This allows designers and buyers to evaluate how a luminaire will perform in a real installation before production or deployment.
How IP Waterproof and Salt Spray Testing Evaluate Harsh-Environment LED Lights
Waterproof testing equipment controls water flow, pressure, spray angle and duration to reproduce operating conditions from dripping and rain to high-pressure spraying and immersion. It is relevant to LED lighting, outdoor equipment, automotive parts, consumer electronics and new-energy applications.

| Test mode | Simulated condition |
|---|---|
| IPX3 / IPX4 | Swing-pipe rain test for moderate rainfall. |
| IPX5 / IPX6 | Nozzle water-spray test for strong water impact. |
| IPX7 | Short-term immersion: 1 m water depth for 30 minutes. |
| IPX8 | Continuous immersion with configurable depth and duration. |
| IPX9K | High-temperature, high-pressure water spray for demanding protection requirements. |
Protection levels should match the application
ShineLong outdoor street lights require at least IP66 protection, while underwater pool lights require IP68. For hot, high-pressure washdown environments, the Rancher IP69K tri-proof light is designed for a higher protection requirement.

Salt spray testing
Salt spray chambers simulate corrosive atmospheres to assess long-term reliability for outdoor, garden, marine, chemical-plant and industrial lighting. Test Standards: GB/T 2423.17 / IEC 60068-2-11.
The Maximum Test Levels:
- Pressure Vessel Temperature: 47 ± 1℃
- Saltwater Vessel Temperature: 35 ± 1℃<
- Sodium Chloride Concentration: 50 ± 5g/L
How Environmental and Mechanical Testing Supports LED Luminaire Reliability
Constant temperature and humidity test chambers simulate high-temperature, low-temperature, constant damp heat, and alternating temperature-humidity environments to evaluate product adaptability to such conditions.
Evaluate and simulate whether the luminaire can operate normally under extreme ambient temperatures.
Constant Temperature & Humidity Test
Temperature and humidity cycling helps evaluate weather resistance, stability and sealing performance for LEDs, drivers, housings and finished luminaires.
The test standard reference: GB/T2423.3, IEC60068-2-78 , MIL-STD-202
Vibration testing
Verify whether the product can withstand the vibration environment during transportation or use.
The test standard reference: GB/T2423.56, IEC60068-2-64, ASTM D4728
Drop testing
Free fall and packaged-product drop testing are used to evaluate a product's ability to withstand accidental impacts during handling and transportation.
The test standard reference: GB/T2423.8, ISO2248, GB/T4857.5
What mechanical tests look for
- Structural integrity: deformation, loose brackets or failed mounting components.
- Electrical safety: normal illumination without leakage, open circuits, flicker or abnormal current and voltage behaviour.
- Internal connection reliability: wires, solder joints and interfaces remain secure after vibration or impact.
- Packaging resilience: a complete package is usually tested by one corner, three sides, and six faces.
Specify Protection Levels That Match the LED Lighting Application
Testing evidence becomes most useful when it is tied to the actual environment: such as regular humid areas, high-pressure washing areas, chemical contact environments, outdoor use or long-distance transportation scenarios.

Testing Data Helps Buyers Specify with Confidence
From photometric measurement to environmental and mechanical simulation, testing equipment supports decisions that cannot be made from wattage or appearance alone. ShineLong believes that a dependable industrial luminaire should be selected against its actual operating conditions and supported by meaningful, verifiable quality checks.
