Lumens Are the Measure of Visible Light Output

Lumen requirements change with the room size, surface reflectance, mounting height, existing daylight, task, optics, and user comfort target.

Is a higher lumen value always better?
No. A higher lumen value means more visible light output, but the correct amount depends on the area, task, mounting position, beam angle, glare target, and existing daylight. Too much output can create glare and waste energy.
What is the difference between lumens and lux?
Lumens measure the total visible light output of a source. Lux measures the light that reaches a surface, expressed as lumens per square metre. A lighting calculation uses both fixture output and geometry to predict lux at the work plane.
How can I check whether an LED light delivers its declared lumens?
